Thoughts on Bike Racing
Raced the thursday night crit at Seward Park tonight. Got stamped into the dust. But had fun. Doran sent me a link to the best article I have ever read about the energy market dynamics in the Peloton. Read it here. I was at the back end of the Peloton with the lost causes. It is actually worse there. Next time I will stay in the middle. From now till then I will ride more.

Got a cure for nettles?
Ok, went to Japanese Gulch for a great mtb ride yesterday. But fell off a few times and found the Nettles. Got a bad case of nettle rash on my lower legs. The field guide says find a fern and rub the back of it on your legs. I kept riding. So the net says try antihistamines. I will try that and report. Just popped two sudafed and the stinging seems to be going down.

Final Swobo hack
OK, a friend of mine broke his neck when he clipped out of his fixie without a brake. So I have one now. And short bars. Cool eh?

Hacking the Swobo (literally)
Ok, so I have gotten the fixie bug a bit lately. Bought two Swobo Sanchez fixies. One for Seattle and one I leave in NYC. One of my favorite features is the beer opener in the seat
cool eh? But I don't really like the long handlebars.

so I decided to chop mine.
Before:

hummm that looks about right. Super sazall rules@!!!

After. Ah, sweet simplicity.....

Fixies are going around
Joi has a new fixie from Mission Bicycles. Drop versus straight bars are a personal perference. I like straight for fixie in town. Don't like drop for in town, no leverage for bunnyhops over curgs. The concept of a base bike with little branding that you can customize is cool. But at $790 base model and up, they are a little pricey versus Swobo. I will take the Swobo. And it has a beer bottle opener in the seat. Beat that boyz!
