Review: Ann Coulter Treason: Liberal Treachery from the Cold War to the War on Terrorism

Then there is the whole idea of Alger Hiss and the Democrats claiming there were on Communist anywhere. Well it turns out that Hiss WAS a communist and WAS an agent of the Soviet Union. There were MANY of them and only a few were in fact found. It would be like Bush promoting a member of Al Queda. Hey, this is America, you can be in Al Queda, but if you are, you probably should NOT be working in the White House.

Rather than rehash the whole set of arguments and enjoyable quotes, just read the book. Even if you are a leftie. You need to read and make the decision for yourself. Are you just going to take for granted what the "gospel" is about the right? Why not find for yourself the other side of the story. Ann delivers it in a very entertaining and powerful way.

You go girl. I give it a 4 of 5 on the Tobias Scale.

We are becoming an extremely polarized nation and books like that are hard at work on accelerating the trend. I'm sorry to hear you enjoy it.

Being accused of being a traitor is a very serious charge. I'm quite confident that those of us on the left side of the political spectrum are not traitors . Calling us such was, at first, meerly offensive. Now it has begun to taking on all the characteristics of a call to violence.

Do you really wish to associate your self with all of this?

Many times, the center is defined by the edges. The further the edges are stretched, the more movement there is in the center. One of the problems with the left today is that they don't have a clear edge which is actually ringing true with a large number of people. I don't care if you tend to believe the left or the right or the center, what I care about is that you have a reasoned well thought out, informed opinion either way. One way I get that is by reading BOTH the far right and far left. Then I decide. Ann Coulter for all her divisiveness, is saying things other people won't. So are Al Franken, Bill Maher and George Lakoff. I read them all. Here are some of my reviews of books from the "left": http://www.martinandalex.com/blog/archives/2004/11/review_dont_thi.html
http://www.martinandalex.com/blog/archives/2004/10/review_of_whats.html Read everything then make a decision. That's my stand.

the absolute best book on ANY of this political philisophy stuff is A Conflice of Visions http://www.martinandalex.com/blog/archives/2005/01/finished_a_conf.html.
It is totally non-partisan, actually academic in the approach to describing the two classic and overiding philosophies about Human nature that today we call "left" and "right" but over the years have been called many other things. Read that one and decide which one sounds more true to human nature to you. That is where you fall.

Does that answer my question? No it does not.

I asked if you wish to be so enthusiasticly associated with the accusation that my side of the American political spectrum are criminals, liers, and trators and if you appreciate how that is incitement to violence?

You respond with with a biblography?

Try these: Tilly's The Politics of Collective Violence for a exposition on why this is important and "Congress: A Political Economic History of Roll Call Voting" for data base model on what actually distinquishs the left and right. Neither are least bit partisan; so if you enjoy books on the fringe they will both disappoint.
